Short answer: An E-Proof is a PDF that confirms layout, page order, and content and is included free with every Printseoul order, while a physical digital proof is a printed sample that shows color on paper and costs extra and takes more time.
A proof is your last chance to catch a problem before thousands of copies are printed. There are two kinds, and they answer different questions.
E-Proof (PDF)
An E-Proof is a PDF proof of your uploaded files. It lets you check that the pages are in the right order, nothing is cropped or missing, and text and images are where you expect them. It is included free with every Printseoul order, and production starts once you approve it and payment is confirmed.
A PDF on a screen cannot show you how color will look on a specific paper, because screens emit light and paper reflects it.
Physical digital proof
A physical digital proof is a printed sample of your file. It lets you see color on paper and judge details such as small type, tints, and skin tones. It is a paid add-on, and it takes extra time, so your production schedule moves accordingly.
How to decide
- Use the E-Proof alone when the file is routine, color is not critical, and the schedule is tight.
- Add a physical proof when color accuracy matters, for example art, photography, or brand colors, when you are using an unfamiliar paper, or when the run is large enough that a mistake would be expensive.
- Request a free paper sample kit first if you are unsure about the stock. It lets you feel gloss, matte, and uncoated papers before you choose, and it ships to U.S. and Canadian addresses.
Tips for approving a proof
- Check every page, not just the cover.
- Read page numbers and running heads in order.
- Confirm the bleed and trim are as you intended.
- Approve only when you are sure; production begins from the approved version.
